Who we are

Capital Flooring & Blinds is a family-run business with strong roots in Ilkeston, serving local homes and businesses for generations.

Originally established in 1977 by James and Pauline Shetliffe as Jim’s DIY, the business began as a small hardware and DIY shop. As customer needs evolved, so did the business. With the next generation joining, Robert and David, the company became known as Jimsons, with carpets quickly forming the core of what it offered.

In 2020, third-generation family members Harry and Charles launched Capital Flooring, building a loyal customer base through quality workmanship and dependable service. As the business grew, blinds were introduced, leading to the creation of Capital Flooring & Blinds.

In 2024, with both Jimsons and Capital Flooring & Blinds continuing to expand, the two businesses merged under the Capital Flooring & Blinds name. Following a full showroom refurbishment, the business continues to grow while remaining firmly rooted in its local, family-run values.
